How to treat teenage acne


Acne in teens happen with sebum clogs the pores. Common areas for acne to appear are the face, neck, back, and shoulders. Severe acne can cause permanent scarring and hurt the self-esteem. Teen acne can be treated in various ways, one way is to visit a dermatologist for severe cases and a dermatologist will determine whether acne should be treated with antibiotics or a topical, or if both should be used for a combination therapy.

There are also OTC topical treatments that are available such as: salicylic acid, daily purifying cleansers formulated for acne prone skin, serum and moisturizers that are anti-bacterial based such as a Tea-tree based serum and moisturizer will suitable for balancing excess sebum that clog the pores.


Several tips to help control acne are:

Do not wash your face too frequently, washing the skin over two times a day can cause dry and irritated skin which can cause over production in oil glands of which create the environment for acne

Usage of non-comedogenic products are best because they help with making sure pores do not get clogged.


Do not pick or pop pimples. This can result in bacteria entering deeper in the skin of which can lead to more inflammation and the possibility of scarring.


When addressing acne, remain patient, sometimes it is trial and error of what specific skincare regime, or medication will help improve your skin and once the correct combination of products is selected for your particular skin, it can take time to achieve progressive results.
