Dry skin types need to exfoliate regularly because individuals with dry skin types usually tend to load up on rich creams to treat dryness. Dry skin cells then build up on the skin as a result of layering these rich creams. Remove dry skin cells by exfoliating and then moisturize the newly generated skin cells!
Skin types that are dry should always incorporate exfoliation into their daily skincare routine to ensure skin cell turnover on a regular basis to make sure that skin is supple and retaining moisture.
When exfoliating a dry skin type, make sure to use the appropriate type of exfoliator. Products containing alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic acid and lactic acid are great for a dry skin type. Also trichloroacetic acid (also known as TCA) is good option for a deeper-penetrating exfoliation. Stay away from salicylic and Jessner exfoliators as they are more for an oily skin type and will dry out a dry skin type.
