1. Avoid Any Contraindications: You’ll want to make sure that you are not using any medications such as Accutane or antibiotics, or have any medical conditions that would cause any adverse reactions. Please check with your doctor first for any questions regarding medications. You’ll also want to check with your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing.
2. Exfoliate: Exfoliating the skin with a chemical exfoliator for 1 week prior to the peel application will allow the peel to better penetrate the skin’s top layers, which will give you better results. I recommend using one of Skin-Peel’s Daily Exfoliators, which come in 3 different options that suite each client’s concerns.
3. Patch Test: To avoid any adverse reactions, you’ll want to conduct a patch test behind your ear or on your jawline. This can be done right before you are about to apply the peel, you’ll just want to wait about 20-30 minutes to make sure there are not any abnormal reactions. It is normal to become red, however the redness should only last 10-15 minutes. If you experience severe redness, hive- like bumps or blistering please remove the chemical peel right away with cold water.
4. Products: The next thing we’ll be discussing is the products and items you’ll need for your peel application. Once you have selected the peel of your choice, you will then need to be sure you have the following products;
- A gel cleanser to properly cleanse the skin, such as our Pre-Peel Cleanser, which can be used daily as well.
- A Neutralizing Spray to neutralize the acid and remove the peel.
- Gauze or cotton rounds to apply the peel with.
- Hyaluronic Replenish Serum to aid the skin cells in repairing and to help build collagen.
