The truth about what really causes your wrinkles!

Exposure to UV (ultraviolet light) - people who spend considerable time out in the sun during their leisure hours or for work tend to age more quickly, especially if proper sun protection is not used

Smoking - smoking depletes estrogen levels in your body and estrogen is what keeps skin plump, youthful and radiant. Smoking also reduces blood supply to the skin, which experts say provides a direct link to accelerated aging of skin

Light skin - people with lighter skin types tend to experience a higher level of sun damage, leading to an earlier visible signs of aging.

Genetic factors - if your parents maintained a youthful appearance longer than the average, you can expect to follow suit as long as you live a similar life style.

Clothes - people who tend to wear hats and long sleeves usually develop wrinkles later in life compared to people of the same skin type who do not.

Lack of Sleep - Researches have detected that when you don't get enough sleep, the body produces excess cortisol, a hormone that breaks down skin cells. Those who get plenty of rest produce more HGH (human growth hormone), which helps skin remain resilient or more "elastic," and is less likely to prematurely wrinkle.

Now that you are aware of the causes of accelerated aging, you can work to control and prolong your youthfulness. All of the above points are all very important factors, but nothing beats good skin care routine. Chemical peels, daily exfoliators along with religious application of SPF 30+ (Sun Shield Moisturizer SPF 30+ Anti Aging Peptide) will give you the foundation for beautiful, healthy skin.

What does Vitamin C do for the skin?

Vitamin C is a prime ingredient of collagen, the substance that binds cells together. Collagen metabolism and production are key attributes of healthy, radiant and younger looking skin. Collagen ingredients and ingredients that promote collagen production are widely used in cosmetics.

Collagen depends on vitamin C, which implies the vitamin's importance to healthy, attractive skin. Stable collagen production fights wrinkles, and ensures evenness in the skin's tone and texture.

Vitamin C's function as an antioxidant also benefits the skin, as it is able to protect the skin from damaging free radicals. Daily application of Vitamin C serum will benefit your skin's appearance tremendously.

Skin-Peel.com has just launched a new product - the Medpeel Vitamin C 30x Anti-Aging Serum. This formula not only includes the natural bioavailable Vitamin C which comes from rose hip extract, but also includes deeply penetrating ascorbyl glucoside and retinyl ascorbate which helps diminish UV damage. Also, this formula includes magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, which suppresses hyperpigmentation.

Chemical Peels - How to compare apples to apples.

So, you want to do a chemical peel? Or maybe you are considering your options for a facial tune up, but aren't sure where to begin. Our society is becoming increasingly more conscious of how others see us and let's face it, no one wants to look old or see that first wrinkle appear on their face. There is no shame in wanting to "freshen things up" and a chemical peel is a great way to do that.

There's a wide array of chemical peels available out there, so the trick is knowing how a chemical peel is graded or categorized in order to select which is right for you. Professionally applied treatments range from spa quality peels all the way up to clinical peels applied under anesthesia.  That's a very broad gap and there are even some professionals that don't know all the different nuances.

Peels are categorized into spa or medical quality by the ingredient(s), amount of acid (%), pH level, and amount of buffering in the solution.

Spa quality is generally a peel that has a pH of 3 or above. The amount of buffering is higher so that the acid is "released" more slowly on the skin. Most spa quality peels are composed of glycolic, lactic, salicylic or a combination of these acids and usually range from 10-30% acid content. Enzyme peels are also in the spa category because there is a limit to how much skin they can cause to shed.

Medical peels are generally at a pH of 2 or lower, contain limited buffering and can range all the way up to 70% acid.  They do not necessarily need to be applied by a doctor, but there is usually one associated with the facility in case of an emergency.  Nurse practitioners, physician assistants and medical estheticians are usually the clinicians applying these peels. Some "designer" peels that contain pharmaceutically controlled ingredients (Retin A for example) can only be used in a medical facility.

The best way to know exactly what is best for you is to ask questions and do your research. If you want a deep peel and are you open for a higher risk factor, try a medical grade peel.  If you want to take it slow and easy, a spa peel may be for you. Don't be afraid to take your time and make the best choice.

Papaya - more than just a yummy fruit!

You’ve heard about papaya.  You might have even eaten one.  It has been referred to as the “fruit of the angels” by no less that Christopher Columbus and there is little doubt that he was wrong. The list of benefits range from helping you digest your food to beautifying your skin. Since Skin-Peel.com provides skin care (and not lunch), lets focus on that aspect.

Papaya enzyme (also called papain) helps break down inactive proteins and your outer skin is made of keratin, a string of fibrous protein. This “digesting” of unneeded skin cells results in brighter, smoother, fresher, softer skin without the irritation often associated with acids like glycolic or lactic.

This amazing fruit also has anti inflammatory benefits, which really helps those who suffer from acne. While the appearance of the skin is a major emotional issue, painful lesions and eruptions are the major physiological issue for those who deal with this problem.  By reducing the inflammation, papaya offers a reduction in the discomfort in addition to clarifying skin and diminishing the frequency of outbreaks.

Lastly, papaya contains the antioxidant support of carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids which protect the skin from internal and external environmental damage. B vitamins folate acid and pantothenic acid along with magnesium and potassium provide nutritional support as well.

This bucket list of good deeds papaya lends to skin care is quite lengthy and impressive, which is exactly why you will find it in our Fusion Dermabrasion Scrub! This can be found in our Fusion Pro Resurfacing Treatment Kit and it’s on sale for a limited time.

This natural skin lightening secret was first discovered in Japan!

The natural skin lightening agent, Kojic Acid, was first discovered in Japan by women who worked manufacturing sake. They found that the Kojic Acid produced during the fermentation process was treating uneven skin tone in their hands.
Skin-peel.com uses this color correcting super hero in our gentle, effective AHA Kojic Acid peel. By mixing the Kojic Acid with Glycolic and Lactic, customers can get the skin they long for - smooth, bright, glowing and evenly colored.

Worried about doing a chemical peel? AHA Kojic is one of the more mellow peels because of the way alpha hydroxy acids work. The discomfort is minimal compared to other peels and the rewards impressive.

Get a Sleeker Silhouette with our Body Tight Firming Kit

Spring is the time to throw off the old and bring out the new.  It is also time to go into full blown panic when you realize that shorts and bathing suit weather is just around the corner and you are not quite ready. Thank goodness there are tools to help undo the winter lumps, bumps, and dimples your backside developed while you were piling on the layers of clothes.

Skin-peel.com has the Body Tight Firming kit that, well….firms and tightens. It won’t shave 20 lbs off your profile, but it will help smooth out the ripples and slim down the love handles while you frantically go to the gym 7 days. The kit contains two products that work together for a double shot of help.

The Body Tight Firming Serum has your collagen stimulating, skin refining alpha hydroxy acids that not only allow the actives in the Body Tight Firming Lotion to absorb better but also gives your skin a brightening boost.  Dry, dull, itchy skin is just a part of the winter blahs.  Body Tight Firming Serum will help sweep away the unneeded cells while it firms and tightens.  BONUS!

Your second product, Body Tight Firming Lotion, has the fat fighting ingredients that will shrink down existing fat cells and prevent new ones from forming. Again, it won’t keep you from eating that yummy chocolate cake right before bedtime but it will help you as you strive to improve your eating habits and expand your exercise routine.  Special botanical extracts are able to target adipose cells and dehydrate them.  Its kind of like squeezing the juice out of them.  Fat cells reproduce by getting so fat that they replicate themselves. So, when you shrink the existing ones and prevent them from multiplying you are preventing new ones from forming. BINGO!

So, now you are tightening and firming the skin with the serum and shrinking and stopping the fat with the lotion.  You are making the effort to ramp up how much you move your body (aka exercise) and eating light and healthy (while dearly missing the chocolate cake). VIOLA!  Next thing you know, you will be looking for excuses to be in your bikini, but the clock is ticking.  RUN and get your Body Tight Firming kit because summer is sneaking up on you.
